General Leia's Final Words To Chewbacca, According To New Star Wars Novel

One of the major unresolved issues from Star Wars: The Last Jedi is what will happen to Carrie Fisher's General Leia. The novelization of the film does give us an indication of where Leia may leave things with one old friend. At the end of the movie, we see Leia escape on board the Millennium Falcon with what's left of the Resistance. The novelization, however, includes an additional scene where Leia, grieving the loss of her brother, turns to Chewie, one of the only other characters left who started the adventure, and says...

It's just us now.

Having lost Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and then Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi, we're down to just those two of the four main characters of the original trilogy. Of course, the words, which were revealed by a fan on Twitter, are even more heartbreaking, as the reader knows that, one way or another, when Star Wars: Episode IX comes along, we'll lose Leia as well, leaving only Chewbacca as the last hero standing.

There are a couple other important characters from the original trilogy who are also still around, in C-3PO and R2-D2, though they haven't been nearly as important in this trilogy as they have been before. It will be interesting to see if they become bigger characters in Episode IX due to the lack of other familiar faces.

Novelizations of movies are always interesting as they require that the story go a little bit deeper than the film that inspired it. We often get additional dialogue or characters' internal thoughts, which help to explain motivations. While these books are not necessarily canon, they still provide new angles on the story that fans will be interested in.

Of course, this fact also makes the eventual novelization of Star Wars: Episode IX a potentially interesting artifact. Since Disney has claimed that they won't be using CGI to recreate General Leia in the next film, that means we won't see her at all in the new film, but that doesn't mean that we won't see her again in the next book. Whatever explanation is given for her absence in the movie could be elaborated on in more detail in that book, or another novel that is planned to tell that story.

Of course, exactly what happens to her will depend in large part on how much time passes between these final two episodes. While previous Star Wars movies saw years of in-movie time pass between installments, The Last Jedi broke with tradition by picking up immediately after The Force Awakens ended. Episode IX could follow suit or it could go back to the previous standard and see a long time pass between films, meaning the possible scenarios are essentially limitless.

Is It Too Late To Make This Tom Cruise And Dwayne Johnson Team Up Movie Happen?

Tom Cruise and Dwayne Johnson are two of the biggest action stars in cinematic history, and both have huge new films debuting this summer. Dwayne Johnson stars in Skyscraper, while Tom Cruise returns to his biggest franchise in Mission: Impossible - Fallout. These two movies release mere weeks apart in July, but with five months and change to go, is it too late to do some reshoots and get Tom Cruise in Skyscraper? We need these two to team up. It's meant to be, just take a look:

See, these two action heroes are simply meant for each other. In this fan art found on Marcelo J. Pico's Twitter, Tom Cruise fits right in on the Skyscraper poster, jumping out to meet Dwayne Johnson. The Tom Cruise image comes from a picture released last week to get people hyped for Mission: Impossible - Fallout. The image depicted the same stunt where the actor suffered a gruesome injury while jumping from building to building.

In Skyscraper, Dwayne Johnson plays Will Sawyer, a security analyst who works on skyscrapers when he finds himself framed and on the run. Oh, and he also needs to rescue his family from a burning skyscraper. It sounds like an impossible mission, so who better to meet him halfway than Ethan Hunt? The IMF agent is an expert on skyscrapers, being on the run and jumping off of things, so he would surely be a huge help to Dwayne Johnson's character. Although to be fair, I imagine The Rock would crash into Tom Cruise here and they would both fall back into the burning building or straight to the ground. The physics are a bit murky and I'm not sure how jumping to each other would help without a tether, but it looks awesome and I'm sold on the pairing.

Tom Cruise has been at this for decades, and he continues to thrill us every time he's on screen, risking life and limb while performing his own stunts. Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson has become the biggest movie star on the planet and the go-to actor for giant franchises. As both of these actors can carry films and franchises on their own, it isn't surprising that the two have never teamed up for the ultimate action movie. After all, who needs two action stars in a film when one will do? Everyone. The answer is everyone. Dwayne Johnson and Tom Cruise each bring something a little different to their performances and their films, and the two actors would provide an interesting contrast to one another. I'm not thinking a buddy cop film exactly, but something with that sort of dynamic. They both have different action styles that could be fun to see paired up together in one film.

Assuming the mash up we need and deserve won't happen on cinema screens, Skyscraper jumps into theaters on July 13, followed shortly thereafter by Mission: Impossible - Fallout on July 27. For all of the biggest movies hitting theaters this year, check out our release schedule.

Who IT's Bill Skarsgard Is Playing In Deadpool 2

While it's important to make a superhero movie spiritually feel as close to its comic book source material as possible, as with any adaptation, creative liberties need to be taken. In the case of Deadpool 2, the X-Force being formed in the movie won't directly match specific lineups from the comics, but thankfully each individual character has been part of an iteration of that team on the printed page. Until today, the only character from Deadpool 2's X-Force who hasn't been officially identified was the one played by IT's Bill Skarsgard, but now we've learned that the Pennywise actor was cast as Zeitgeist thanks to a fun social media post.

Most of the X-Force characters in Deadpool have their own unique superpowers/special abilities, and then there's Rob Delaney's Peter, who's just a normal guy who likes sports, grilling and beekeeping. Fortunately, he brought his camera along so he could chronicle his time with the team, and in this photo, he identifies Bill Skarsgard's character as Zeitgeist, who, like his comic book counterpart, has acid breath. I fear for any people who are near him when he has food poisoning or drinks too much alcohol. In fact, the latter scenario is how Zeitgeist (real name Axel Cluney) discovered his mutant ability in the comics, and it unfortunately resulted in a girl's face being scarred. In addition to being part of the second X-Force team, he also served on X-Statik, but he was eventually killed in battle. The character hasn't appeared in any other media until now, so him appearing in Deadpool 2 is a big deal.

Along with the photo of Zeitgeist, Peter posted a few other pictures on his Twitter account of his fellow X-Force teammate. Starting off, we have the extremely lucky Domino.

Next is Bedlam, who has the same electricity powers as he does in the comics, but is also enormously ripped.

Then there's Shatterstar, and assuming that Peter isn't kidding, it appears that his extraterrestrial origins are being kept intact for Deadpool 2.

Wade Wilson will bring the X-Force together in Deadpool 2 to help him protect a young mutant named Russell from Cable, who's traveled back in time to kill the kid. Sure the name might be derivative, but because the their methods are more aggressive, the morally flexible protagonists are willing to do what the X-Men shy away from. An X-Force movie is also in development, with Drew Goddard attached to write and direct, but aside from Deadpool, Cable and Domino, we have yet to learn which other characters will return for that project.
